Your Car Just Got an Upgrade.

You love your car. Maybe you’ve had it for years. It still looks good, drives great, and has Apple CarPlay or Android Auto built right in. There’s just one little thing that makes it feel its age.

Every time you get behind the wheel, you reach for your phone, find the cable, plug it in, and wait for CarPlay to appear. It’s become such a normal part of the routine that you probably don’t think much about it anymore.

Until you get into a newer car.

You start the engine, your phone stays in your pocket, and CarPlay is simply… there.

Suddenly, that cable feels a little more annoying than it did before.

But you don’t need a new car to get one of its best conveniences. Airfly Drive brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the car you already own, turning its existing wired connection into a wireless one. Plug it in, pair your phone once, and after that, Airfly Drive automatically reconnects when you get in the car. No app. No cable. No new routine.

The best tech doesn’t always add another thing to think about. Sometimes, it simply removes a step.

Airfly Drive stays plugged into the same media-enabled USB port you currently use for wired CarPlay or Android Auto. At just 22.5 × 22.5 × 27 millimeters and 42 grams, it’s small enough to practically disappear into your console. Once it’s there, you can leave it there.

Your maps, playlists, calls, messages, and everything else you already use through CarPlay or Android Auto stay right where you expect them. The difference is that your phone can stay in your pocket, bag, or wherever you tossed it before getting in.

Setting Up Airfly Drive

When pairing Airfly Drive for the first time, ensure you disconnect from your car's Bluetooth before you plug Airfly Drive into the USB port. Then, find the USB port you currently use for wired CarPlay or Android Auto. This part is important because many cars have multiple USB ports, and some are designed only for charging. Airfly Drive needs to be connected to the media-enabled CarPlay or Android Auto port to work. If you’re not sure which one that is, look for a CarPlay, Android Auto, or media icon near the port, or check your vehicle’s owner’s manual.

If your car has USB-A, Airfly Drive plugs directly into the port. If your vehicle uses USB-C, attach the included USB-A to USB-C adapter first. Either way, the setup works the same.

  • Using an older phone? Pairing may take a few extra seconds. If it doesn’t connect right away, simply try again.

  • Driving an Audi? Bluetooth pairing can sometimes take a few attempts. This is common with Audi Bluetooth connections and isn’t specific to Airfly Drive.

From there, pair your phone with Airfly Drive. You’ll only need to do this once. After that first pairing, Airfly Drive remembers your phone and automatically reconnects on future drives.

And then you can pretty much forget about it.

Tomorrow morning, get in the car and start it. CarPlay connects. Running out for lunch? Same thing. Heading home? Connected again.

Even if you share the car, Airfly Drive keeps things simple. You can pair two phones and switch between them with a single press on Airfly Drive, without going through the pairing process again.

Airfly Drive works with vehicles that already support wired Apple CarPlay or wired Android Auto, which includes most vehicles from around 2016 onward. It doesn’t add CarPlay or Android Auto to a vehicle that doesn’t already have it, and it won’t work with an AUX-only system.

So, if you can currently plug your phone into your car and CarPlay or Android Auto appears on the screen, Airfly Drive is designed to make that connection wireless.

And that brings us back to that little routine.

Get in. Find the cable. Plug in your phone. Drive. Unplug it when you arrive. Repeat tomorrow.

When you do something hundreds of times a year, removing even one small step can make the everyday experience feel noticeably better. That idea fits directly into Twelve South’s approach to design: anticipating the friction points along the way and creating products that make the experience more seamless.

Airfly Drive doesn’t change the car you love. It simply gives it something you might have thought you needed a newer car to get.

And with holiday road trips, airport runs, and drives to see family just around the corner, it’s a pretty good time to make every trip a little easier.

Keep the car. Lose the cable.
